sonic rumble gets delayed... again...

if it wasn't obvious by certain aspects of this website, i'm a Sonic fan. so be prepared for me rambling about the series.

for those who don't know, Sonic Rumble is a mobile game that is currently in early access for certain regions (mine included). i've been playing it for a while and it's actually a pretty fun game. it was announced almost a year ago and it's been through one initial closed beta and three "Pre-Launch" phases. i started playing on the first "Pre-Launch" by using a VPN, as my region only got the game in the second "Pre-Launch" phase.

sonic rumble was supposed to launch globally on May 8th, 2025. recently, however, SEGA have announced that Sonic Rumble is getting delayed (for the THIRD time). people (myself included) aren't very happy about this. my issue with it isn't that the game is getting delayed, it's that the game already feels... finished. it feels polished, it feels like something that can be called a "final product". apparently, they've decided it's not, and that they want to add some more features. but... why can't they add them post-launch? it's a baffling decision. it reeks of development hell.

to add insult to injury, they spent the last month promoting and marketing the game. they were like "yeah guys, THIS IS IT!", they even gave out codes of the Steam version of the game to content creators. all of that, only for them to go "nope, sorry, we're delaying the game".

i really hope this doesn't end up killing the game. it's a fun game, and it would be really unfortunate to see it die like this. also, if you're wondering why i'm so pissed off about this even though i can already access the game, it's because the Steam version of the game isn't available to anyone besides content creators. it was supposed to be available once it launched globally but... y'know.
