my thoughts on unleashed recompiled

if you haven't heard of it, recently Sonic Unleashed got a "recompilation" project and holy SHIT. it's AMAZING. this is some crazy wizardry. the visuals are SOOOOO sharp compared to the game's original 880x720 resolution. it can run at 60 FPS and beyond too!

my PC can run it at mostly 60 FPS, though there are a few drops here and there (especially on the werehog stages). it adds a whole new "options" menu, just like an official PC port of the game would.

it is genuinely a sight to see, to finally have a native PC port of the game... we've been waiting for this moment for YEARS, and it's finally happened. i am in AWE.

they released the tools for it too. i'm hoping Sonic '06 can get similar treatment. yes, i know P-06 is a thing, but it's incomplete, and i believe the main developer has said that they do not plan on adding the hub worlds or cutscenes (understandably so). an '06 port with the Legacy of Solaris mod would be pretty cool to see.

i'd also like to see Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition (TU0) and the XBLA version of UNO ported. i know windurango can (very impressively) run Minecraft, but it's on the latest version. and UNO... there's just something unique about the XBLA version.

if you told me like, 5 years ago, that we would be seeing Xbox 360 games getting recompiled to native PC ports, i would've said you were high on crack. what a time to be alive.
